2017 Nucs are still available as well as individual mated queens.
It's not too late to start more colonies of honeybees this year!
We still have a number of 5-frame nucleus colonies for sale. Each nuc will come with a marked 2017 queen (yellow for 2017) from our own locally overwintered stock, 5 frames of bees with brood in various stages, and food. You just need to transfer them into your hive, take them home, feed them well, and regularly monitor them for mites. These nucs are ready to burst and will quickly build-up for winter if you're committed to tending them!
Our bees are a mix of Buckfast, New World Carniolan, Italian and Russian genetics, plus whatever other local drones they may have mated with. We can't say what your queens or bees will look like. Our goal is to breed for northern survivors regardless of their heritage, and we find the variations in the queens and bees to add extra intrigue.
We are a PA-registered nuc and queen producer, inspected by the state of PA at least twice a year. Our nucs and queens are certified for export to other states.
Nucs are $145 cash or good check in your hive box (instructions on our website). (Absolutely no frame exchange accepted! We can't take a chance of introducing disease into our apiary.) Frames can be put into a waxed cardboard nuc box for transport for $10 more.
July and August are also good times to replace your old queens from previous years as well as any southern package queens you may have bought earlier in the season. We also have a limited number of our own marked, mated replacement queens for sale for $25 cash only.
Sales by prior contact and appointment only. Please provide your name and contact information when emailing us. We won't respond to emails that don't provide names and contact information or otherwise just don't seem on the up-and-up. Please don't waste our time or yours. All sales are first-come, first served. beekeeping@beamsbees.com
